After shirtless agitation, offering roses to ministers, and going on hunger strike, unemployed youths of Rajasthan have started dharna outside the Congress office in Lucknow. These youths are demanding a meeting with Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi. They say that the Gehlot government of Rajasthan is not listening to them.
The purpose of this dharna, organized under the banner of Rajasthan Berojgar Ekrit Mahasangh (RBEM), is to fulfill the demands of the unemployed on the Ashok Gehlot-led Congress government in Rajasthan. Their main demand is appointments in government jobs. The recruitment examinations for the same have already been conducted. The states are also demanding an increase in the number of vacancies for government jobs and a non-bailable law against those leaking question papers in competitive exams.
RBEM President Upen Yadav, who came to join the dharna, said that we have now started a hunger strike after dharna outside the Pradesh Congress Committee in Lucknow. We are protesting in Jaipur for the last 47 days. We want to meet Priyanka Gandhi. Congress has announced that it will give 20 lakh jobs in Uttar Pradesh. We had extended support to the Congress before the 2018 assembly elections, but the promises made to us were not fulfilled.
Earlier, the RBEM had said that it would oppose the Congress in the Uttar Pradesh elections at the rallies of its leaders, including Priyanka Gandhi. Upen Yadav said that there is a Congress government in Rajasthan. Despite this, they are not fulfilling the promises made to the unemployed youth and instead are making big promises to the people of Uttar Pradesh. First, the party should fulfill its promises made in Rajasthan.
MLA Danish Abrar, the newly appointed advisor to CM Gehlot, reached the protesters on 23 November and held talks. However, due to lack of agreement, the protesters left for Uttar Pradesh on 26 November and after reaching Lucknow they also accused the UP Congress workers of misbehaving with them.
Former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, State BJP President Satish Poonia, Deputy Leader of Opposition Rajendra Rathore, etc. have also tried to surround the Rajasthan government, criticizing the Gehlot regime. Talking to reporters on Sunday about this, Chief Minister Gehlot said that the opposition is instigating the protest.
Gehlot said the BJP has lost its morale after its defeat in the state elections and is now instigating such protests. Rajasthan is giving maximum employment in the country. Around 1 lakh people have already got jobs. The recruitment process for 77,000 more people is underway. Is this happening anywhere in the country? Some people want to contest elections in the future. Even if they get a job, they will not do it. Just want to be in the headlines so that tomorrow BJP or Congress will give him a ticket.
