Former Dharmadhikari Bhuvan Chandra Uniyal said that this temple is dedicated to Mata Sati, the wife of Lord Shiva. When Mata Sati gave up her body in the fire pit, her body parts fell in various places. There are 108 such Shaktipeeths in the whole of India.

The Mahapanchayat warned that actress Urvashi should take back her statement and apologize. Otherwise, a case will be filed against her in the court.
