Agra, Jan 28 (IANS) Uttar Pradesh governor Ram Naik Wednesday said there was no dearth of talent in the country, it just needed to be promoted and perfected in the interest of the nation.
Naik was addressing the 80th convocation of Agra University (now called Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University), during which 495 Ph.D., five D. Lit., and 81 M.Phil. degrees were given away.
Stating that a society that forgets its past and neglects its present could never progress, Naik spelt out four mantras for success -- Always keep smiling except in some special circumstances, if someone did a good job appreciate and encourage him, never insult or undermine others as people tend to become proud too soon, and finally, whatever you do, give your best and aim to excel. He who does well, progresses.
Naik, who is the chancellor of state universities, said the Agra university had a rich tradition and it had given the country the likes of former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Chaudhary Charan Singh, former president Shankar Dayal Sharma who had done the country proud.
Union Minister of State for Human Resource Development Ram Shankar Katheria also spoke on this occasion.
