The Forest Department team caught seven accused red-handed for setting fire to reserved forests in different forest areas. One of these accused is a laborer of Nepali origin. While the accused caught in Kotdwar range of Lansdowne Forest Division has been sent to jail, a case has been registered against the other accused under the Forest Act.
Forest workers of Land Conservation Forest Division Lansdowne have caught a Nepalese laborer while setting fire to the forest and handed him over to the police. His three other associates have also given statements against the accused. BD Joshi, Jaiharikhal Range Officer of Land Conservation Forest Division, Lansdowne, said that on Sunday the forest workers were returning after extinguishing the fire in the fields of Kulhar.
During this time, a person was setting fire in the forest on the roadside near Kulhar's turn. The forest workers caught him red-handed while setting him on fire. He also had a gas lighter in his hand. Whereas his three other associates were working at some distance from the spot to lay the pipeline.
The forest personnel caught all four and brought them to the range office Lansdowne. Where the three witnesses Rajendra, Satish Kumar, and Ranjit Singh accepted that Nepali laborer Tekram had set the forest on fire. He said that all four had been handed over to the police.
Kotwal Lansdowne Mohammad Akram said that a case has been registered under the Forest Act against Nepali laborer Tekram, accused of setting fire in the forest. Advance action will be taken soon in the matter.

DFO Garhwal Forest Division Swapnil Anirudh said that on Sunday, Forester Jagdish Negi and his team were deployed on patrol to protect the reserved forests in Khirsu under the Pauri Range from fire. Meanwhile, the team caught five people setting fire in the reserved forest near Khurs. According to the department, the names of the accused are Mosar Alam, Nazefar Alam, Firoz Alam, Nurul, and Shalem. All are residents of Bihar. It is being told that they live in Chowbatta of Khirsu and are laborers.
On the fire in the forest of Nainital, CM Pushkar Singh Dhami says, "We are seeking help from all institutions including the Indian Army." Local people are also being asked to cooperate in extinguishing the fire. The responsibility of the officers found responsible will also be improved.
