Vaibhav Suryavanshi made history on December 24, 2025, in his very first match in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. He scored the second-fastest century in List A cricket by an Indian player.

The 14-year-old Vaibhav was playing for Bihar in a Plate Group match of the Vijay Hazare Trophy against Arunachal Pradesh at the JSCA Oval Ground in Ranchi. Vaibhav completed his century in just 36 balls. Vaibhav is also the vice-captain of the Bihar team. He has hit 10 fours and 8 sixes in his innings so far. He completed his century with a single off the first ball of the 12th over.

Fastest centuries in List A cricket:

Jake Fraser-McGurk - 29 balls

AB de Villiers - 31 balls

Anmolpreet Singh - 35 balls

Corey Anderson - 36 balls

Vaibhav Suryavanshi - 36 balls

Vaibhav Suryavanshi creates a record.

In the history of One Day International (List A) cricket, Vaibhav has now become the joint fourth-fastest batsman to score a century. He has equaled New Zealand's Corey Anderson. This is the second-fastest century in List A cricket by an Indian batsman.

Which legendary players did he surpass?

With this innings, Vaibhav has surpassed several big names. Yusuf Pathan, who scored a century in 40 balls in 2010, is now behind Vaibhav. Besides him, Vaibhav has also overtaken Urvil Patel and Abhishek Sharma. Vaibhav broke the records of Urvil Patel (41 balls) and Abhishek Sharma (42 balls).

It is worth noting that the record for the fastest century in List A cricket for India is still held by Anmolpreet Singh. Vaibhav missed this big record in List A cricket by just two balls.

Anmolpreet scored a century in just 35 balls while playing for Punjab last year. Vaibhav missed equaling his record by just one ball.
