The Indian team's England tour is over, and now the next mission of Team India is the Asia Cup. But before the Asia Cup, big news has come out about two veterans of the Indian team, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.

The BCCI has now broken its silence on the speculations about the ODI future of Kohli and Rohit. The BCCI says that the board is not in a hurry to take any decision about its future, and at present, the focus is on preparations for the upcoming Asia Cup and next year's T20 World Cup.

BCCI breaks its silence on Kohli and Rohit's ODI future

Actually, after the end of the England Test series, India will not play any international cricket match till the start of the Asia Cup. During this time, the discussion on the end of the international cricket career of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma has intensified.

It was indicated by the sports editor that both players can say goodbye to their international ODI career in the Australia tour (October 2025).

Also, if they want to play till the 2027 World Cup, they have been told to participate in the domestic ODI tournament, the Vijay Hazare Trophy. The possibility of selection without domestic cricket is considered less.

Meanwhile, now an experienced BCCI source told news agency PTI that there has been no discussion of any such haste or 'farewell match' in BCCI. Nor is any player being pressured to retire. The board does not take sensitive decisions in a hurry and gives importance to public sentiment and the wishes of the players in the cases of big players.

According to the source,

"Both the players, Kohli and Rohit, have already retired from Test and T20 cricket and are currently active only in ODIs. If they have any plans in mind, then obviously they will tell the top officials of the Indian Cricket Board, as they did just before the England Test tour. On the other hand, if we look from the Indian team's point of view, the next big tournament is the T20 World Cup to be held in February and we still have to prepare for it, in which our focus is on the Asia Cup T20 tournament to be held in September, in which we will try to send a good team."

Let us tell you that Kohli and Rohit last played for the Indian team in the Champions Trophy in the UAE earlier this year, where India won the title. However, no one has played competitive cricket since the end of the Indian Premier League.
