Dates for the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 may be announced today. This time, the election is expected to be held in two phases. The last time elections were held in three phases. This time, due to festivals, only the time of November is escaping for voting, and opposition parties, including the Rashtriya Janata Dal, have appealed to the Election Commission of India to vote in two phases. The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party and Janata Dal United advised voters to vote in one phase.
Chief Election Commissioner Dnyanesh Kumar did not talk about the election dates during the press conference in Patna on Sunday after talking about these appeals. He reached Delhi on Sunday evening, and now today, the Election Commission of India has a press conference in New Delhi at 4 pm on Monday. It is believed that election dates will be declared in it. However, in view of the signs of the Election Commission, the possibility of notification was being issued after 7 October.
Why more likely to select two phases
The assembly elections in Bihar were held in five-six stages during about 30-35 years. The year 2010 was held in six phases, five in 2015 and three in 2020. This time, due to special intensive revision of voters, the rest of the preparations for the first election of Durga Puja could not be made. This month is also the Mahaparva Chhath of Deepawali, and then the folk faith. In such a situation, voting is not likely till 27-28. Political parties also appealed to keep the voting dates only after Chhath. Along with this, it is also worth noting that under the provision of the tenure of the assembly, a decision is to be taken for the new government in Bihar before November 22. Therefore, it is believed that elections can be held in two phases.
Voting is to be held for 243 seats of the Bihar Legislative Assembly.
The country's Chief Election Commissioner Dnyanesh Kumar returned from Patna on Sunday. After the two-day Bihar tour, it is now left to declare the voting dates. The voter list has been released after completing the intensive revision of voters. Notification for elections in 243 assembly seats in Bihar has been issued by the end of September. In 2010, the first phase of notification was issued on 27 September, and the sixth phase of voting was held on 20 November. In 2015, the fifth and final phase of voting was issued on 16 September on 16 September. The notification of the first phase in 2020 was released on 1 October, and the third-final phase was voted on 7 November.
