Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli has broken his silence for the first time on his decision to retire from Test cricket. At a charity event organized by Yuvraj Singh on July 8 in London, Kohli said that his age has played a big role in this decision. Kohli also made a statement about his friendship with Yuvraj Singh.
'Beard color...', Kohli's funny reply
Kohli said smilingly, 'I had dyed my beard black just two days ago. You know this is the time when you are dyeing your beard every four days.' Kohli announced his retirement just before the Test series against England earlier this year. This news shocked many fans and experts. The 36-year-old Kohli is still one of the fittest cricketers in the game. Many believed that he still had a few more years left. Former cricketers believed that he also had enough time to reach 10,000 Test runs.

'Yuvraj-Bhajji and Jack made me feel comfortable'
Kohli also spoke about his friendship with Yuvraj Singh. He recalled how Yuvraj helped him a lot when he was new to the Indian team along with senior players like Harbhajan Singh and Zaheer Khan. He said, 'We shared a very good relationship both inside and outside the field. When I started playing for India, Yuvi pa, Bhajju pa and Jack took me under their wing and made me feel comfortable in the dressing room.'
'Yuvraj's comeback after cancer is incredible'
Kohli has proudly seen Yuvraj return to cricket after battling cancer. He said, 'His comeback after cancer was incredible. I was the captain when he returned and played an amazing innings against England in Cuttack. I think Yuvi scored 150 runs. I told someone that day - it feels like I am watching cricket in my childhood again.' He said, 'I have a lot of love and respect for him. I would not come to such an event for anyone else.'
Indian team also reached charity event
Since retiring from Tests, Kohli has been living quietly in London while the Indian team's tour of England continues. The Test team is starting a new chapter under the leadership of new captain Shubman Gill. After losing the first match at Headingley, the Indian team made a comeback with a brilliant win at Edgbaston which is their first Test win on this ground. The performance of the team has given hope to the fans that the next generation is ready to take over the team, even though stars like Kohli and Rohit Sharma moved away from Tests. The Indian team also reached this charity show, the picture of which has been shared by the BCCI. Gautam Gambhir was also seen in the picture. Apart from this, chief selector Ajit Agarkar, great Sachin Tendulkar and Brian Lara, England's Kevin Pietersen and Darren Gough also attended the event.
