CM Yogi Adityanath said at a rally in Farrukhabad, "You must have seen in Malegaon blast. The mischief of Congress is a crime against the country and Congress should apologize." He said that earlier when Congress was in power, it used to inspire and encourage terrorists and they used to file false cases against Hindu organizations, and today when they are out of power, they oppose every work which is done for the public interest.
A witness in the Malegaon blasts case claimed in a court on Tuesday that the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) had forced him to name Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and four Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh leaders. At that time the statement of this witness was recorded by the Maharashtra ATS.
When is the matter?
It is worth noting that former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh was the Additional Commissioner of ATS when it investigated the 2008 Malegaon blast case. Parambir Singh is currently facing several cases of extortion. The witness testified in the Special NIA Court on Tuesday. His statement was recorded by the ATS when he was probing the case. The NIA later took over the responsibility of investigating the case.
What has the witness claimed?
The witness told the court during his testimony that the then senior ATS officer Parambir Singh and another officer had asked him to name four RSS leaders, including the current Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath and Indresh Kumar. He claimed that ATS had harassed him and kept him sitting (at the ATS office) illegally.
After his testimony, the court declared him a hostile witness for refusing to testify against the ATS and making any statement before the Anti-Terror Agency. So far, around 20 witnesses have been examined in the case, out of which 15 have turned hostile.
6 people died in the blast
Six people were killed and over 100 were injured in a blast on September 29, 2008, in Malegaon town, about 200 km from Mumbai. The accused in the case, Lok Sabha member Pragya Singh Thakur, Lt Col Prasad Purohit, Sudhakar Dwivedi, Major Ramesh Upadhyay (Retd), Ajay Rahikar, Sudhakar Chaturvedi, and Sameer Kulkarni are out on bail.
