Boris Johnson reached Ahmedabad, will hold talks with PM Modi tomorrow, these agreements may be signed

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has arrived in Ahmedabad on a two-day visit to India from today. According to the information, Johnson will then meet PM Modi in Delhi tomorrow. During this, the two leaders will discuss the UK and India's strategic defence, diplomatic and economic partnership.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson will offer to help India cut dependence on Russian oil and defense equipment during his visit. Johnson's visit for free trade talks is to begin in PM Modi's home state of Gujarat, where he will visit a new factory being opened by a British firm and announce investments and cooperation in science, health, and technology.

 

Investment of more than 7600 crores may be announced

 

Britain was India's third-largest trading partner at the beginning of this century but has slipped to 17th place last year. The largest trading partners of India are the United States, China, and the United Arab Emirates. Johnson is expected to announce new investment and export agreements by British and Indian businesses in areas ranging from software engineering to pharmaceuticals, totaling more than ₹7,600 crores.

 

India can get more visas

 

The British PM has indicated ahead of his visit that he is ready to extend more visas to India this year in return for a free trade agreement that could boost annual bilateral trade by billions of pounds.

 

FTA talks will gain momentum

 

Boris Johnson's visit to India today is expected to give impetus to talks on a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the two countries. Both sides are keen to double bilateral trade by 2030. India and the UK started talks on a free trade agreement in January this year. Sources said that the two countries have resolved some issues in the first two rounds of talks and some key issues related to market access are expected to be discussed in the third round of talks.
