According to the Meteorological Department, the southwest monsoon is likely to remain normal for the fourth consecutive year in the country with the forecast of favorable 'La Nina' conditions during the June-September period this year. According to the IMD, this year the southwest monsoon is expected to receive 96 to 104 percent rainfall as against the long period average (LPA) of 87 cm for the period 1971-2020. The department said that from a quantitative point of view, the monsoon rainfall from June to September is likely to be 99 percent of the LPA, with the possibility of fluctuating five percent.
