Weather Update: Snow on the mountains, mercury dropped due to rain in the plains, red alert regarding cyclone 'Michong' in South India

Weather Update Today: India Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heavy rain for 10 districts of Tamil Nadu. A red alert has been issued for these 10 districts.

 

According to IMD, heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places in Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kanchipuram, and Chengalpattu districts during the next 24 hours. Also, moderate rain with light thunder and lightning is likely in many places in these districts. Even today, rain continues in Kanchipuram and some parts of Tamil Nadu, causing waterlogging in some areas.

 

Where did it rain?

Heavy rainfall occurred in many parts of Chennai as Cyclone 'Michong' approached the coast. At the same time, according to IMD data, in the last 24 hours, 5.88 cm of rainfall has been recorded in Chennai Nungambakkam, while 7.12 cm of rainfall has been recorded in Chennai Meenambakkam. Heavy rain occurred in many parts of the city after a low-pressure area centered over the southeast adjoining the southwest Bay of Bengal on Friday.

 

It will rain in these districts in the next 3 hours

According to Chennai Meteorological Centre, in the next three hours, some isolated places are expected in Ranipettai, Tiruvannamalai, Villupuram, Cuddalore, Mayiladuthurai, Thanjavur, Ariyalur, Perambalur, Kallakurichi, Vellore, Tirupattur, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri Salem, Namakkal, Tiruchirappalli, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur and Nagapattinam districts. There is a possibility of moderate rain and lightning in places. Let us inform you that due to heavy rains, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams rescued about 15 people from the Tambaram area near Peerkankaranai and Perungalathur due to severe waterlogging in the city.

 

Rain warning in Uttar Pradesh

A rain warning has been issued in 20 districts of Uttar Pradesh today. According to the forecast of the Meteorological Department, due to the new cyclonic circulation, there are chances of drizzling in parts of eastern and southern UP including Lucknow and 20 districts of Bundelkhand from Monday till December 7.

 

How cold is it in Jammu and Kashmir?

The weather in Jammu and Kashmir will remain dry in the valley during the next 24 hours. The department has predicted that the weather pattern in the valley will remain dry till December 10 and the temperature will fall further.

 

Cold increased after rain in Punjab

After the rain in Punjab, the cold has increased further. There was fog in the morning and evening. Due to snowfall in the mountains, cold wave has started in the plains also. According to the Meteorological Department, there will be fog this morning. Also, the weather is predicted to remain clear during the day.

 

At the same time, there will be fog in Haryana this morning. Also, the sky will be sunny in the afternoon. Talking about temperature, the maximum temperature will be recorded at 24 and the minimum will be 10 degrees Celsius.

 

Snowfall intensifies in Himachal Pradesh also

Snowfall has also increased in Himachal Pradesh. According to the Meteorological Department, the weather is expected to be clear today. There is a possibility of a cloudy sky in one or two places. The maximum temperature in Shimla will be 17 and the minimum will be 07 degrees Celsius.
