
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is arriving in Kashmir this evening. On Friday (June 21), on International Yoga Day, the Prime Minister will attend a program organized at the Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Center (SKICC) in Srinagar. From here, the PM will give his message to the country and the world on Yoga Day. All preparations have been completed by the Jammu and Kashmir administration to welcome him.
Security arrangements have been tightened in Jammu and Kashmir given Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Srinagar. Officials said that multi-layered security arrangements have been made for the PM's program. Security agencies have set up additional checkpoints on all important roads and intersections given the high-profile visit to Srinagar.
A statement issued by the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) said that Modi will visit Jammu and Kashmir on June 20 and 21, 2024. Prime Minister Modi will attend the 'Empowering Youth, Change in Jammu and Kashmir' program at the Sher-e-Kashmir International Conference Center (SKICC) in Srinagar on June 20 at around 6 pm.
PM Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of several development projects in Jammu and Kashmir. He will also launch the Improving Competitiveness in Agriculture and Allied Sectors Project (JKCIP).
PM Modi will participate in the 10th International Yoga Day celebrations at SKICC, Srinagar on June 21 at around 6:30 am. On the occasion, he will address the gathering and then participate in a yoga session.
This year's Yoga Day event underlines the profound impact of yoga on young minds and bodies. The celebrations aim to unite thousands of people in the practice of yoga and promote health and wellness on a global scale.
Since 2015, PM Modi has led International Day of Yoga (IDY) celebrations at various prestigious locations including Kartavya Path in Delhi, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Ranchi, Lucknow, Mysore, and even at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
This year's theme "Yoga for Self and Society" highlights the dual role of yoga in promoting individual and social well-being. The event will encourage grassroots participation and the spread of yoga in rural areas.
The event on June 20 - 'Empowering Youth, Transforming Jammu and Kashmir' - is a watershed moment for the region, showcasing progress and inspiring young achievers. On the occasion, the Prime Minister will inspect stalls and interact with young achievers from Jammu and Kashmir.
Prime Minister Modi will also inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of 84 major development projects worth over Rs 1,500 crore. The inaugurations will include projects related to road infrastructure, water supply schemes infrastructure in higher education, etc.
Additionally, the Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for projects such as the improvement of the Chenani-Patnitop-Nashri section, the development of industrial estates, and the construction of six government degree colleges.
Prime Minister Modi will also launch the Competitiveness Improvement in Agriculture and Allied Sectors (JKCIP) project worth Rs 1,800 crore. The project will be implemented in 90 blocks of 20 districts of Jammu and Kashmir and will reach 3,00,000 households covering 15 lakh beneficiaries.
PM Modi will also distribute appointment letters to over 2,000 people employed in government service. These projects will empower the youth and upgrade infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir.
