Due to a western disturbance, the weather suddenly changed in North India on Monday. There was snowfall and rain in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu, and Kashmir, while there was rain in the plains including UP, Punjab, and Haryana. At the same time, cold winds blew throughout the day in Delhi-NCR. Meteorologist Soma Sen said that a western disturbance is active in north-west India. Due to this, there are chances of rain and storms in the entire area. In the coming days, there may be snowfall in the upper reaches of the hilly areas and rain in the lower areas.
The high peaks of Himachal's Rohtang including Kullu, Lahaul-Spiti, Kinnaur, Chamba, Kangra, Shimla, Mandi, and Sirmaur districts have turned white with snow. 40-year record snowfall was recorded in Shikari Devi, Himachal. At the same time, heavy rain has been recorded in other areas. In Uttarakhand, there is heavy thunder along with rain in many districts including the capital Dehradun. Amidst the rain, there was sudden darkness in the capital Dehradun. Snowfall occurred in Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri.
At the same time, due to continuous intermittent rains for two days in Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh, winter has arrived 15 days earlier. In Haryana, Punjab, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu, there was heavy rain in many places and drizzle in some places.
Rain alert in Uttarakhand
In Uttarakhand, the Meteorological Department Center has issued an orange alert for rain in the hilly districts and a yellow alert in the plains. According to the release issued by the Centre, there are chances of lightning and rain with thunder in some places in all the hilly districts.
Chance of rain in Delhi today
The Meteorological Department has predicted light rain or thundershowers in Delhi and the sky will be partly cloudy. During this period, the minimum temperature is expected to be around 20 degrees Celsius and the maximum temperature is expected to be around 32 degrees.
Rain in Haryana, Punjab, temperature dropped
It rained in many districts of Haryana. Hailstorm has also occurred in the Hisar, Sirsa, Fatehabad, and Kaithal districts. It was 15 mm in Hisar, 15 mm in Fatehabad, and 17 mm in Ratia. A drop in temperature has been recorded due to rain and hailstorms. Due to rain, the paddy crop kept in the open in the markets of many districts of the state has also become wet, due to which there is a possibility of huge loss.
At the same time, there was heavy rain in Chandigarh. Visibility is reduced due to dark clouds in the morning. It also rained in Ludhiana, Moga, Muktsar, Nawanshahr, Jalandhar and Faridkot of Punjab. Thousands of tonnes of paddy lying under the open sky in the market in Muktsar got wet, due to which the concern of the farmers has increased.
The first snowfall of the season in Teen Dham of Uttarakhand
Kedarnath received heavy snowfall for the second consecutive day on Monday. At the same time, the first snowfall of this season occurred in Gangotri and Yamunotri including Badrinath Dham on Monday. Two inches to four inches of snow accumulated at other places including the Kedarnath temple complex. Apart from Badrinath, there was heavy snowfall in the high-altitude areas including Valley of Flowers, Hemkund Sahib, and Gorson. By evening it started snowing in Auli also. On the other hand, snowfall is also occurring in Chandrashila along with Second Kedar Madmaheshwar and Third Kedar Tungnath.
At the same time, it rained with heavy thunder throughout the day in the lower areas of Chamoli and Rudraprayag districts of Garhwal division as well as in Pauri, Tehri, and Uttarkashi districts, due to which the cold has also increased. People also took out warm clothes.
Snowfall up to one foot in Himachal
Snowfall up to one foot was recorded in the higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh. The first snowfall of the season has occurred in Narkanda of Shimla, Atal Tunnel Rohtang, Madhi, Lakkar Mandi of tourist town Dalhousie, Jot, and Jalodi Pass of Kullu. Snow has fallen for the first time in Hattu Peak in October. The temperature has dropped by 9 degrees due to heavy rains in the entire state and snowfall in higher areas. There has been up to 12 cm of snowfall in Jalodi Jot.
The use of Kangri started in Srinagar
