The ruling Trinamool Congress has won a major victory in the West Bengal Panchayat Election Results in West Bengal. The party is moving ahead with a victory of more than 12518 seats. This election result has told that P. Didi's charm is still alive in the rural areas of Bengal. Its effect can be seen in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections as well. Trinamool Congress claims that this time this lead will be decisive amid opposition unity. However, the BJP claims that the Trinamool Congress won big in the last panchayat elections as well, even after that the BJP won 18 seats in the Lok Sabha elections, hoping to continue this trend this time too.
The Trinamool government in West Bengal is reaping the benefits of land reforms and public welfare schemes launched in rural areas. In return for this support, Mamta Banerjee demolished the fort of the Left parties. In the new panchayat election results, the Trinamool Congress's hold in the rural areas is visible. Trinamool had won more than 38 thousand seats in the last panchayat elections also. This shows the hold of Mamta Banerjee among the rural voters.
However, the violence in the panchayat polls overshadowed the victory of the state government. The High Court and later the Supreme Court in P. Commenting harshly on the violence in Bengal, by appointing central forces, it was told that the allegation of violence in the state is not only political. So far, the case of political murder of more than 32 people has come to the fore.
Trinamool Congress candidates won unopposed in the last panchayat elections in 2018. This time there has been a decrease in this number, while during this time a large number of BJP candidates were elected unopposed, indicating the emergence of new electoral equations in the state.
BJP accused
BJP's national spokesperson Prem Shukla told Amar Ujala that P. There has been a lot of violence in the Bengal Panchayat elections. Violence continued from nomination to polling and counting of votes and during this period more than 45 BJP workers have died. The BJP had lodged 34 written complaints of violence with the State Election Commission during the elections, but it is alleged that no action was taken even in a single case. The state government has won the panchayat elections using brute force.
He alleged that even after such heavy violence, the Congress and the Left parties Have not strongly opposed the violence in Bengal. In such a situation, it is proved that for the sake of being in power, these parties can keep their eyes closed towards violence, in which ordinary people have to lose their lives.
There will be no effect in the Lok Sabha elections
Prem Shukla said that the Trinamool Congress had performed very well during the last Panchayat elections as well, but in the Lok Sabha elections, the BJP had succeeded in winning 18 seats. This time also, when the Lok Sabha elections will be held under the supervision of the central forces, the BJP will not only maintain its performance but will also increase it.
Trinamool's performance in 2018
In the last panchayat elections of the year 2018, the Trinamool Congress performed brilliantly. The party had captured 793 Zilla Parishads, 8062 Panchayat Samitis, and more than 38 thousand Gram Panchayats with 72 percent votes. In the opposition, the BJP had won 22 Zilla Parishads and a little over 5.5 thousand panchayats with only 13 percent of the votes. The BJP had alleged heavy violence in this election as well.
In the subsequent Lok Sabha elections held in 2019, the Trinamool Congress won 22 seats with a vote share of 43.3 percent and the BJP won 18 seats with a vote share of 40.7 percent. The BJP claims that it will be able to repeat its performance when the Lok Sabha elections are held under the supervision of the central security forces, headed by the Central Election Commission. However, in the meantime, opposition unity may create new equations that may see a change in seats and vote share.
