Last evening, a sudden fire broke out in the garbage mountain located in Ghazipur on the border of Delhi-NCR. Within no time the fire engulfed a large part of the mountain of garbage. The flames spread everywhere. According to the latest reports, smoke continues to billow from the Ghazipur landfill site. Delhi Fire Services says the fire was caused by gas generated in the landfill. No casualties have been reported.
Local people are demanding this
The local person said that we were having trouble breathing due to the smoke of the fire. We are not able to talk because of pollution. The fire has been going on since yesterday morning. The administration has not done anything. We want the government to resolve this issue.
On the fire in the garbage mountain, a resident said that we have been facing this problem since the 1990s. We are suffering from diabetes, BP, thyroid, and eye irritation. Small children also suffer from this. Delhi and the central government should solve this problem.
The entire colony is engulfed in smoke.

A schoolgirl living in Ghazipur said that our throats were burning and we were coughing due to the smoke. This fire has caused pollution. Everyone is suffering from this.
Fire caused by gas generated in landfill
The fire continues at the Ghazipur landfill site. Efforts to extinguish the fire are still going on. Delhi Fire Service SO Naresh Kumar said that the fire was caused by gas generated in the landfill. No casualties have been reported.
Firefighters said that a fire in a mountain of garbage often lasts for several days. At present efforts are being made to control the fire. If a fire is extinguished at one place, it flares up at another place. At the same time, local people living around the landfill site say that fires often occur here in summer. According to the police, information was received at around 5.22 pm on Sunday that a fire had broken out in the Ghazipur landfill site.
A fire department official said that due to the pressure of the garbage, methane gas is formed there, due to which the fire breaks out again and again. It is not known whether the fire started due to heat itself or due to some human error.
