The third wave of corona infection will not have much effect on children. The World Health Organization (WHO) and the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) have claimed this in their seroprevalence survey. Because of the dangerous variant of Corona, fears of a third wave are being expressed in India, but now the claim of WHO and AIIMS in a new study is going to give relief.
According to the survey, the SARS-CoV-2 seropositivity rate is higher in children than in adults. Seropositivity refers to the physical ability to mount a natural immune response to the virus. Puneet Mishra, Professor of Community Medicine at Delhi AIIMS, said that seroprevalence was found to be very high at 74.7% in the refugee colonies of South Delhi.
This figure is the highest in any serosurvey conducted so far. According to the survey, even before the second wave, seroprevalence among children below 18 years living in south Delhi was 73.9%. More seroprevalence will act as a shield for children against the third wave.
