Delhi's Directorate of Information and Publicity (DIP) issued a recovery notice of Rs 163.62 crore from the Aam Aadmi Party. AAP will have to deposit this money within 10 days.

As per reports, this amount includes Rs 99.31 crore as principal and Rs 64.31 crore as penal interest. This action was taken on the instructions of Delhi LG VK Saxena, in which he directed the Chief Secretary to recover Rs 97 crore from the Aam Aadmi Party on the allegation of misappropriation of money by passing political advertisements as an official during 2015-2016.

If not paid, the properties will be attached

According to reports, the Aam Aadmi Party will have to deposit the entire amount within 10 days. If the party fails to do so, legal action will be taken as per the previous order of Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena. That is, after this the properties of the party can be attached.

The High Court committee had found guilty

The Delhi High Court formed a three-member committee in August 2016 to investigate the amount spent on advertisements. This committee submitted its report on 16 September 2016, in which AAP was found guilty. According to reports, since September 2016, all the advertisements of the Delhi government were examined by the expert committee, after which the recovery notice was issued.

Accused of spending 24 crores on advertisements in a month

In June 2022, the opposition claimed that the AAP government spent Rs 24 crore on advertisements in a month. RTI information has been cited for this. Opposition parties said that the AAP, which came to power by claiming to fill the state coffers, is itself engaged in emptying them.

1. Order of Delhi LG – recover 97 crores from AAP
