The investigation into the explosion at Rameshwaram Cafe in Bengaluru has been handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA). Earlier, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had said on Sunday that the government may consider handing over the Rameshwaram cafe blast case to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) if needed. The Chief Minister said that the Central Crime Branch (CCB) is investigating the case.
When and how did the blast happen?
The blast took place at Rameshwaram Cafe at 1 pm on Friday. Police have seen a suspect keeping a bag inside the cafe in the CCTV footage. Police believe that an IED device with a timer was used to carry out the blast.
The team engaged in an intensive investigation
After obtaining CCTV footage of the suspected attacker, the police started searching for the accused. HAL police have registered a case under sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act 1967 and the Explosive Substances Act, Bengaluru City Police said in a press statement. A team of FSL, bomb disposal squad, and dog squad are engaged in an intensive investigation around the blast site, The Rameshwaram Cafe.
