Pant took a decision in the match that he did not come to bat, which left the spectators who came to watch the match at Eden Gardens stunned. Pant did not bat in the 20 overs of the game.
Instead, he sent players like Abdul Samad and David Miller to bat after Nicholas Pooran and Mitchell Marsh were out. Lucknow's team had a stormy start.
Aiden Markram and Mitchell Marsh made a partnership of 99 runs for the first wicket. After this, Pooran and Marsh scored 71 runs in 30 balls. Everyone expected that Pant would come to bat at number 4, but everyone was surprised to see Abdul Samad at the crease. After the match, Pant told why he did not come to bat.
