There are more than 20,000 Indians in the US, who are present in the US without any documents. It is feared that the US is planning to send these people to India. The Indian government also wants to cooperate with the Trump administration on this matter.

S Jaishankar, while talking to reporters, said that we want the world to see the talent of Indians. We want talented Indians to showcase their talent on global platforms, but we oppose illegal migration. Jaishankar said, "If any of our citizens are there illegally, and if we are sure that they are our citizens, then we are always ready for their legitimate return to India."
The concern of millions of Indians present in America increased.
There are about 1,80,000 Indians present in America, who do not have any documents or have overstayed their visa period. We want to work together with America on this matter. However, the issue of delay in granting visas to them by America was also raised. Jaishankar said that if a country makes a person wait for more than 400 days to grant a visa, then it is not right.
Can 20 thousand Indians return home?
According to the documents prepared by the US administration, there are about 18 thousand Indians in America who do not have sufficient valid documents to stay in America. According to the data of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), as of November 2024, there were 20407 people whom America describes as 'without documents' or 'incomplete documents'.
