Vijay Shah Row: 'Minister's statement against female military officer is cancerous and dangerous', High Court's harsh comment

Posted on 15th May 2025 11:05 am by rohit kumar

The High Court has made a strong comment on the statement of Madhya Pradesh Minister Vijay Shah on female army officer Colonel Sophia Qureshi and has called it cancerous and dangerous. The High Court directed the DGP to register an FIR against Vijay, after which the police registered an FIR against Vijay. The High Court said that the minister used gutter language, which is unacceptable.

The division bench of Justice Atul Shridharan and Justice Anuradha Shukla described the statement of Colonel Qureshi calling the sister of the terrorists of the Pahalgam attack as promoting separatist activities. It also said that it is going to endanger the unity and integrity of India.

The court said that the armed forces are probably the last institution in the country, which reflects honesty, discipline, sacrifice, selflessness, and indomitable courage, with which any citizen of the country can associate himself. Vijay has targeted it. The bench said that Colonel Qureshi and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh were the faces of the armed forces, who had informed the media about the progress of Operation Sindoor.

Colonel Qureshi is a follower of the Muslim religion. By calling her a traitor to terrorists, a feeling was created that a person can fast only because he is a Muslim.

FIR was lodged against Vijay Shah late at night, and time was sought to present his side in court

FIR was lodged against the Tribal Development Minister at Manpur police station on the instructions of the High Court. A big meeting was held late on Wednesday night after Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav returned from Bangalore tour. According to sources, state BJP president BD Sharma and other senior leaders demanded resignation from Shah, but Shah insisted that he should be given an opportunity to present his side in the High Court on Thursday.

BJP state president demanded resignation

Senior state BJP leaders and Minister Shah attended the meeting held at the residence of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav regarding the Minister Shah case. It is being told that during this time, a resignation was sought from Minister Shah, but he was not ready for it and sought time. After the meeting, the CM said that orders have been given to follow the instructions of the Honorable High Court. When the matter started heating up after the controversial statement, the BJP organization summoned Minister Shah to Bhopal on Tuesday. He reached the party office wearing slippers, and after being reprimanded by senior leaders, he was seen regretting his statement. After this, he also apologized and said that Colonel Sofia Qureshi was more than his sister, but his apology did not work.

Uma Bharti demanded resignation.

After Shah's objectionable comment, there was a lot of resentment in political and social circles. Protests were started in the entire state, and the resignation of the minister was demanded. At the same time, there was uneasiness about this statement within the BJP as well. Many BJP leaders, including former Chief Minister Uma Bharti, had also demanded strict action against Lah. Uma Bharti had demanded the immediate dismissal of Shah and an FIR.
