Bollywood stars Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn, filmmaker David Dhawan, and his actor-son Varun Dhawan, among others, have extended their support to actor and comedian Rajpal Yadav, who is currently in Tihar Jail in connection with a nine-crore cheque bounce and loan default case.
Meanwhile, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has also appealed to those in the film and TV industry to help the actor during this difficult time.
Yesterday, actor Sonu Sood, Jam Music producer Indrajit Singh, and Tej Pratap Yadav, among others, came forward to help him. Goldie Jain, Rajpal Yadav's manager for 25 years, said that numerous celebrities, from leading actors to directors and producers, have offered assistance.
Rajpal's bail hearing
Goldie said, "Many people have come forward to help Rajpal Yadav. Actors like Sonu Sood, Salman Khan, and Ajay Devgn have come forward to provide financial support. They are all well-wishers of Rajpal Bhai." He said the bail hearing is on Thursday, and if all goes well, we will hold a press conference.
Singer Mika Singh also announced a donation of ₹1.1 million to the actor. He said, "Rajpal ji, I stand with you. You've made everyone laugh, and now it's our turn. I appeal to the film industry to come together and help. We are one family."
FWICE appeals for help
According to ANI, FWICE has appealed to all producers, directors, artists, technicians, associations, and well-wishers to help Yadav pay off his debts and secure his release. Contributors can help Rajpal Yadav directly or through FWICE.
It should be noted that Bollywood actor and comedian Rajpal Yadav is behind bars in Tihar Jail following a Delhi High Court order. On February 4th, the High Court rejected the actor's final plea for a week's extension to arrange funds in the cheque bounce case and directed him to surrender at Tihar Jail without further delay. Following this, Rajpal Yadav surrendered at Tihar Jail on February 5th.
Actor's wife Radha said, "The film industry has supported us, we are grateful."
According to PTI, actor Rajpal Yadav's wife Radha said on Wednesday that many people from the film industry have come forward to support her husband, who is in jail. "Everyone is standing with him. The film industry has been very supportive. We are very grateful to everyone who is coming forward to help," Radha said.
This is the case:
In 2010, actor Rajpal Yadav borrowed Rs 5 crore from Murli Projects Private Limited to make the film "Aata Pata Lapata." The film flopped, resulting in significant losses for Rajpal, who was unable to repay the money. The seven cheques he had issued also bounced. Subsequently, the firm initiated legal action against Rajpal for cheque bounce and loan fraud. This led to his imprisonment in 2018.
The court sentenced him to six months' imprisonment. He was released on bail, but the case continued. During this period, the loan amount, including interest, reached nine crore rupees. Recently, the Delhi High Court rejected his bail plea, refusing to grant him further relief.
