Weather set to take a turn across the country again; clouds to persist, rain alert issued for several states.

Weather patterns are set to change once again across several parts of the country. There is a renewed possibility of rain in the Delhi-NCR region. Rain alerts have also been issued for Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan.

 

 

According to the Meteorological Department, scattered thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and rain are likely in West Bengal, Odisha, Sikkim, and Northeast India until March 24.

In Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh, winds gusting at speeds of 30 to 50 kilometers per hour, accompanied by thunder and lightning, are forecast for March 23. Light rainfall is also possible in parts of Central India and Maharashtra, potentially accompanied by strong winds.

 

 

Cumin Crops Turn Black Due to Unseasonal Rain in Rajasthan

 

Jaipur: A spell of rain has persisted for the past five days across more than 10 districts of Rajasthan. This unseasonal rainfall and accompanying hailstorms have caused damage to Rabi crops—including cumin, Isabgol (psyllium husk), wheat, and mustard. In the districts of Jaisalmer and Jodhpur, the cumin crop has turned black. Wheat crops have suffered damage of up to 90 percent in several districts, including Alwar, Jaipur, and Dausa.

 

 

In the Ajmer district, crops across an area of ​​9,000 hectares have been completely ruined. Additionally, crops have been damaged across approximately 1,000 hectares each in Alwar, Sikar, and Churu, and across more than 2,000 hectares in Jaisalmer.

 

 

The Bikaner district has suffered the most extensive damage, with 90 percent of its crops affected. Rajasthan's Agriculture Minister, Kirodi Lal Meena, stated that an assessment of the crop damage is currently underway. Compensation will be provided to farmers once reports are received from the respective District Collectors.
