The negligence of the police administration is coming to the fore in the death due to spurious liquor in Saran. There is a possibility of using the seized spirit in the police station to make poisonous liquor. These things have come to the fore in the preliminary level investigation. The Prohibition, Excise, and Registration Department has also started an investigation in this direction. According to sources, lids were found missing from the seized spirit containers kept in the Malkhana of Mashrak police station. Spirit seized from several containers is also missing. In such a situation, it is feared that the seized spirit has been sold to liquor businessmen. The matter of connivance of the watchman is also coming to the fore in this. However, the police or product officials are refraining from speaking anything about this and are saying that the investigation is going on. Chhapra Product Superintendent Rajneesh Kumar said that the matter of spirits disappearing from Mashrak police station premises is not on his notice, but liquor and spirit seized in all the police stations are being investigated. His sample is being taken.
Spirit was seized for evidence
After the amendment in the Prohibition Act, the seized liquor or spirit has been ordered to be destroyed immediately, but in old cases, the seized liquor or spirit is still kept as evidence. It has been kept as an exhibit in the malkhana of the police station area from where consignments of illicit liquor or spirits were seized. It is feared that the liquor mafia is using this confiscated spirit to make poisonous liquor.
The investigation report can be submitted today
A two-member team that went from the headquarters to investigate the death of spurious liquor in Saran is likely to submit its report on Friday. Joint Commissioner of Prohibition, Excise and Registration Department Krishna Paswan and Deputy Secretary Niranjan Kumar will prepare their report after talking to the victim's families, villagers, and local officials in different areas of Saran. During the investigation, the matter of the death of liquor businessmen due to poisonous liquor has also come to light.
The station head and watchman were suspended, and action on DSP also
In the Saran district, the death toll due to spurious liquor has gone up to 53 in Isuapur, Mashrak, Amnaur, and Madhaura. At the same time, treatment of more than 35 people is going on in Sadar Hospital and private clinics. District Magistrate Rajesh Meena has confirmed the death of 26 people due to drug consumption. Most of the deaths occurred in Mashrak. Police have arrested four liquor smugglers by registering an FIR in Mashrak and Isuapur. Mashrak police station officer Ritesh Mishra and watchman Vikesh Tiwari have been suspended. While transferring the DSP of Marhaura, Indrajit Baitha, departmental action has been recommended against him from the Home Department.
Here, the DM-SP has appealed to the common people to destroy those who have stored liquor. A team has been constituted by the district administration under the leadership of alert and active officials, who are making people aware by going door-to-door in the affected areas so that sick people can get treatment.
