Earlier, the fast bowling trio of Navdeep Saini, Siddhant Sharma, and Mani Grewal took advantage of the conditions on the first day and reduced the score of Railways to 66 runs for five wickets. After this, Upendra and experienced spinner Karn Sharma (50) took Railways to a respectable score by sharing 104 runs for the sixth wicket. Due to Kohli's presence, more than 12000 spectators reached the stadium on the first day. Delhi won the toss and decided to bowl first and due to this Kohli did not get a chance to bat on the first day. However, Upendra gave a wonderful display of his talent in front of the audience.

He hit 10 fours and a six in his innings. For Delhi, Saini and Grewal bowled 18 and 17 overs respectively. Left-arm fast bowler Siddhant bowled nine overs.
