The enthusiasm of the 10th International Yoga Day is being seen from the country to abroad. A different enthusiasm is being seen among the people about yoga at Times Square in the American city of New York. Thousands of yoga lovers have gathered here. On the occasion of International Yoga Day, programs are going to be held here throughout the day.
Every year on June 21, people are eager to practice yoga. In such a situation, the Consulate General of India in New York entered into a partnership with Times Square. With this partnership, special yoga sessions were organized at Times Square on Thursday.
Enthusiasm amid scorching heat
However, New York is experiencing severe heat, warnings have also been issued for this. The temperature here had reached 33.8 degrees Celsius during the day. Despite such intense heat, the enthusiasm of yoga lovers did not decrease. People from all states and regions reached here early in the morning and laid mats to do yoga.
Over two decades of experience
Yoga instructor and breathing meditation teacher Richa Dhekne led the yoga and meditation session organized by the Consulate General of India in New York. Dhekne has over two decades of experience as a volunteer with the Art of Living Foundation.
Many other yoga teachers and experts also conducted different types of meditation, exercise, and breathing yoga throughout the day at Times Square. Thousands of people participated in the day-long activities.
Around eight thousand to 10 thousand participants came
At the same time, Binay Srikant Pradhan, Consul General of India in New York, said that as you can see, yoga participants from many countries are present here and it is going to continue throughout the day today. He said that about eight thousand to 10 thousand participants are expected to practice yoga here.
He said, 'I am really happy that the theme of Yoga Day this year is yoga for self and society. I am sure it will inspire all the people participating here today and in other various parts of America.'
Seven yoga sessions held
The 10th International Yoga Day was celebrated at Times Square in New York, the Consulate General of India said on social media platform X. Seven yoga sessions were held during the event, which was attended by around 10,000 people from different countries. Pradhan greeted the participants and highlighted the benefits of yoga for physical health as well as its role in promoting harmony with nature.
Officials and staff of the Indian Consulate as well as members of the Indian diaspora also participated in the yoga session.
