Zelensky Trump Clash Amid talk of ending the war with Russia, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has courted trouble from US President Donald Trump.
Trump met Zelensky, who arrived in the US, on Friday. For a long time, both leaders kept praising each other, but within a few minutes, the conversation between the two turned into a heated debate, with media from all over the world present in the White House. Everyone was surprised by Zelensky's fight with Trump.
The fight escalated so much that Trump even asked the Ukrainian President to leave, which caused Zelensky to leave the White House without signing an important mineral deal for the US-Ukraine.
The debate started with JD Vance.
Zelensky met Trump for the first time in the US after he returned to power last month. The meeting of the two started with shaking hands and smiling. In the 45-minute meeting, the two chatted happily for the first 35 minutes, but soon the controversy escalated when US Vice President JD Vance stressed the need for diplomacy to resolve the Russia-Ukraine war.
To this, Zelensky said, can he ask Vance a question?
Sure. Yes, Vance replied.
Zelensky said - Okay. So ... Vladimir Putin occupied large parts of Ukraine and Crimea. He occupied it in 2014. Over the years, whether it was Obama, then President Trump, then President Biden, this went on ... Now President Trump will stop him. But in 2014, why did no one stop him?
Zelensky further said that I also signed a ceasefire with Russia. But after that Putin broke the ceasefire, he killed our people and did not exchange prisoners. JD, what kind of diplomacy are you talking about? What do you mean?
Vance replied
To this, Vance said, 'I am talking about the kind of diplomacy that is going to end the destruction of your country.'
After this, as soon as Zelensky started speaking, Vance interrupted him and said, Mr. President, I think it is humiliating for you to come to the Oval Office and talk here. America is trying to save you, you should thank the President.
Then Trump also jumped in
Amidst the debate between the two leaders, Trump also jumped in. Pointing a finger towards Zelensky, Trump said that you are not in the right position, you have to compromise with Russia. You should be grateful to us. Do not try to dictate to us.
Zelensky further said that you have good solutions, everything is good and you are not feeling it now, but you will feel it in the future. After this Trump got angry and said that we are trying to solve a problem. Do not try to dictate to us what we are going to feel.
Trump further said that you are gambling with the lives of millions of people, you are trying to start the Third World War.
