The uproar started when the Health Minister scolded the doctor.
Recently, Goa Health Minister Vishwajit Rane arrived at Goa Medical College for a surprise inspection. During this, on receiving complaints, the Health Minister scolded Dr. Rudresh Kuttikar, a senior doctor at Goa Medical College. During this, the Health Minister used harsh language against the doctor. Also, the doctor was suspended. When its video went viral on social media, there was an uproar. Doctors demanded an apology from the Health Minister. Organizations like the Indian Medical Association and Goa Association of Resident Doctors also came out in protest against the Health Minister.
Health Minister apologized
Seeing the matter escalating, the CM canceled the suspension of the doctor. However, the anger of the doctors did not subside and they started a strike. Health Minister Vishwajit Rane also apologized after the uproar. In a social media post, Rane wrote, 'I sincerely apologize to Dr. Kuttikar for the harsh words I said during my visit to Goa Medical College. At that moment, my emotions overtook my expression and I deeply regret the way I handled the situation.'
The doctors withdrew the strike after meeting the CM on Tuesday. The CM also accepted all the demands of the doctors. The CM thanked the doctors for withdrawing the strike and said that he would keep listening to the problems of the doctors from time to time.
