PM Modi wrote on the social media platform 'X', "India and the US are close friends and natural partners. I am confident that our trade talks will pave the way to unleash the immense potential of the India-US partnership. Our teams are working to complete these discussions as soon as possible. I am also looking forward to talking to President Trump. We will work together to ensure a bright and prosperous future for the people of both countries."

On which statement of Trump did PM Modi react?

Earlier, Trump wrote on Truth Social, 'I am happy to announce that India and the US are continuing talks to remove trade barriers. I look forward to talking to my very good friend, Prime Minister Modi, in the coming weeks. I am confident that there will be no difficulty in reaching a successful conclusion for both our great countries!'

Trump softens his tone.

PM Modi's remarks came hours after Trump's statement, in which the US President said that he was confident that there would be no difficulty in successfully completing the trade talks between the two countries, and he was looking forward to talking to his very good friend Modi in the coming weeks.

Trump's U-turn due to India's adamant stand on tariffs

Trump's tough statements after Trump's decision to impose a 50 percent tariff on India (including an additional 25 percent tariff for buying oil from Russia) have recently shown signs of improvement in relations between the two countries after weeks of tension. This is the second time recently that Trump has praised his country's relations with India. Along with this, he has also praised PM Modi and emphasized on strengthening his old friendship with him. PM Modi has also responded positively to Trump's comments.
