2 Indian films in Oscar race after 21 years: Chello show nominated in Best International Film category, and RRR also in the Original Song category

After 21 years, India's film Chello Show has received a nomination in the Best International Feature Film category at the Oscars. This Gujarati film was India's official entry to the Oscars. After Lagaan in 2001, till now no Indian film had received a nomination in this category at the Oscars. Along with this, the song Natu-Natu (Nacho-Nacho) from SS Rajamouli's film RRR has also got a nomination in the Best Original Song category.

 

The shortlisted films for the 10 categories of the Oscars were announced on Wednesday (December 21).

 

Makers started a campaign to get entry into the Oscars

RRR was well-liked by the fans. The film earned a lot in India as well as abroad. RRR was earlier sent for nomination in the 'Best Feature Film Category', but for some reason, it was not selected then. After this S.S. Rajamouli started a campaign to get it an entry in the Oscars.

 

The film got tremendous popularity in foreign countries as well.

RRR was not only a super hit at the box office, but the critics also appreciated the film. The film starred Ram Charan, Jr. NTR, Ajay Devgan, and Alia Bhatt in the lead roles. The film had a worldwide collection of 1200 crores. At the same time, it has got a lot of popularity in foreign countries as well. This film was most liked in America and Japan.

 

Chello show got an official entry on 20th September

On the other hand, talking Chello Show is a semi-autobiography of film director and writer Paan Nalin. Pan Nalin himself grew up in a village in Saurashtra and loved films very much. The shooting of the film was completed in March 2020, just after which there was a nationwide lockdown. The post-production work of the film was completed during the Corona pandemic. It received the official entry from India for Oscars 2023 on 20 September.

 

Kantara's name sent an Oscar nomination

Along with this, the film 'Kantara' has been sent as a nomination for Oscars 2023. Its makers Homble Films have recently confirmed this. Makers say that they have sent their film Kantara for the Oscar 2023 nomination at the last moment. Makers have expressed hope that their film should be nominated for the Oscars so that people can get global recognition for the message shown in the film.
