Ranchi, April 7 (IANS) A total of 209 FIRs have been registered against political parties in Jharkhand for violating the model code of conduct, an EC press statement said Monday.
"The BJP tops the list with 57 followed by the Jharkhand Vikas Morcha-Prajatantrik (JVM-P) with 33. The number of FIRs filed against the All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU), the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and the Congress are 32, 26 and 21 respectively," the Election Commission statement said.
The remaining FIRs have been lodged against other parties fighting the Lok Sabha election in the state.
A total of 702 people have been arrested and more than 9,000 litres of liquor seized from different parts of the state.
Balloting in Jharkhand will be held April 10, 17 and 24.
