It has been made clear to the miscreants and terrorists engaged in the conspiracy of target killing in Kashmir and encircling the Amarnath Yatra in a cloud of apprehension that the Modi government will not bow down and will not stop. A few days ago, during a meeting in Delhi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, reminding the Modi government's policy of zero-tolerance against terrorism, had given clear instructions to the security forces to find those who disturb the peace of Jammu and Kashmir. After this, in the last 24 hours, four terrorists were killed by the security forces.
Two of the four terrorists killed are Pakistanis. At the same time, during 72 hours, about 18 terrorists and their helpers (overground workers) have been arrested. These arrests have taken place from Kathua to Kupwara along the Line of Control (LoC) in North Kashmir. These include two terrorists and their associates who carried out an IED blast in an army vehicle in Shopian. The captured terrorists and their associate Ghulam were in constant contact with the terrorist commanders sitting in Kashmir.
In a fortnight, two meetings were held in Delhi under the chairmanship of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. In a security review meeting held last week, a strategy was prepared to prevent target killing in Jammu and Kashmir and make the Amarnath Yatra safe. Under this strategy, the network of terrorists, their supporters, and helpers is being destroyed in the state.
Security forces killed two Lashkar terrorists in Kupwara in the early hours of Tuesday. Pakistani terrorist commander Tufail is also included in the slain terrorists. Earlier on Monday night, a Pakistani terrorist Hanjla was killed in an encounter in Sopore.
Kashmir's Inspector General of Police (IG) Vijay Kumar said that two terrorists were killed in an encounter that lasted for about three hours in Kupwara. The second terrorist killed is Ishtiaq Lone, a resident of Trial. Ishtiaq's presence in Kupwara shows that the terrorists are now running towards the forests of North Kashmir to avoid pressure from the security forces in South Kashmir.
On Tuesday evening, in another encounter in Shopian, local terrorist Nadeem Ahmed Rather was killed. Rather had become a terrorist in 2020. He was also involved in the murder of a sarpanch in Kulgam in March this year and carried a reward of Rs 5 lakh. Before becoming a terrorist, he was studying Veterinary Science at Shere Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology.
The action also took place in Jammu, Kathua, and Srinagar: A senior police officer said that during the investigation of the targeted killing, it was found that terrorist leaders sitting in Pakistan are using new terrorists for these incidents. The police started work on it and during the last 72 hours, raiding various places in the entire state, about 18 terrorists and their helpers have been arrested. The arrests have been made in Srinagar, Baramulla, Kulgam, Shopian, Anantnag, Jammu, Ramban, Udhampur, and Kathua. All these people were in constant contact with terrorists sitting in Pakistan, Sajjad Gul, Aashiq Nengru, and Arjmand Gulzar, besides some other terrorists through internet media and other means.
Two terrorists and two assistants who blasted the army vehicle in Shopian were caught: On June 2, Shaukat Ahmed Sheikh and Parvez Ahmed Lone, who was involved in the IED blast in the army vehicle in Shapiyan, were also arrested. Both of them are drivers by profession and are residents of Shopian. Two of their overground workers, who had joined them with Lashkar Commander Abid Ramzan to make them terrorists and to carry out this incident, have also been arrested. The plot of the blast was hatched by Lashkar Commander Abid Ramzan Sheikh. One soldier was martyred and two others were injured in the blast. Terrorist Abid Ramzan Sheikh had provided explosives and other equipment to both the terrorists and overground workers for the blast. According to the police, Ramzan will also be caught soon or will be killed in an encounter.
Strict action will be taken against those having links with anti-national elements: Director General of Police Dilbag Singh did not comment on the arrests, but said that there is a clear instruction to all police officers and other security agencies that any terrorist commander sitting in Pakistan or other country or any Strict action should be taken under the law against those who have links with other anti-national elements.
