American airplane company Boeing will invest Rs 1,600 crore in research and development (R&D) in India. The company will set up a 43-acre engineering and technology campus in Bengaluru. This will be Boeing's largest facility of its kind outside the US.

India is a big market for Boeing's products. Currently, more than 4,000 employees work in the Boeing India Engineering and Technology Center. Of these, there are more than 3,000 engineers. The company plans to increase this capacity by 25%.

In 2021, the company launched the Boeing India Repair Development and Sustainment (BIRD) program to make India a regional (maintenance, repair, and operation) MRO hub. Through this, defense and commercial engineering, maintenance, skilling, repair, and maintenance services are being strengthened in India.
