Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said that to win the Lok Sabha elections, we will have to forget our differences and unite. He also advised not to make the internal disputes of the party public. Kharge held an important meeting yesterday i.e. on Thursday with Rahul Gandhi, all the party general secretaries, in-charges, state Congress presidents, and Congress assembly party leaders in the states.
During this, he said that the BJP is raising emotional issues to hide its failures of the last 10 years at the Centre. They deliberately involve Congress in every issue. We have to unite and give a befitting reply to the lies, deceit, and wrongdoings of the BJP on grassroots issues in front of the people. Kharge asked the leaders to put aside their differences, not raise internal issues in the media, and work as a team.
He said that by working hard day and night, we will be able to provide an alternative government in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Where we are weak, people and seats with a certain support base should be identified. He said that all of you are the eyes and ears of the party. You know that whatever we have to do, we have only the next three months to do it, in this, we have to work day and night with all our might for the party.
Discussion on manifesto and seat distribution also
Congress begins discussion on party strategy, manifesto, and seat sharing for Lok Sabha elections.
Sources said, in the meeting, the party has decided to focus its full strength on about half the Lok Sabha seats which it has a chance of winning.
Congress is planning to contest elections on more than half of the total seats.
The party has asked state units to begin the process of candidate selection and provide the first list.
Given that the first list of party candidates will be announced very soon, the screening committees for all the states are likely to be announced by this week.
The party also started discussions to prepare a manifesto as the committee formed in this regard met for the first time.
Yatra will pass through 100 seats
During Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, more than 6,713 kilometers will be covered by buses and on foot in 66 days. This will include 110 districts, about 100 Lok Sabha seats, and 337 assembly constituencies. Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh gave this information. He said that the Bharat Jodo Yatra had changed the atmosphere of the entire country and created new energy among the Congress workers. This journey proved to be a milestone in the history of the party and the country.
Congress is inviting leaders of India
Congress is inviting leaders of 'India', the alliance of opposition parties, to join the yatra and invitations are being sent for this. Ramesh claimed that 'Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra' would prove to be as transformative for politics as 'Bharat Jodo Yatra' was from Kanyakumari to Kashmir.
