Before the general elections in Pakistan, the problems of opposition party founder Imran Khan are increasing. In the Toshakhana case, a Pakistani court has sentenced him to 14 years in jail. Along with Imran, his wife has also been sentenced to 14 years of rigorous imprisonment.

Accountability Court Judge Mohammad Bashir himself arrived to pronounce the sentence of Imran Khan, lodged in Rawalpindi's Adiala Jail, in the Toshakhana case. Under the decision, Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi have been banned from holding any government post for 10 years. Apart from this, a fine of Rs 78-78 crore has been imposed on Imran and Bushra. Bushra did not appear in court.

What is the Toshakhana case, in which Imran will go to jail?

Former PM Imran has been accused of violating rules in the Toshakhana (State Store) case. Gifts received from foreign leaders are kept in Toshakhana. According to Toshakhana rules, government officials can retain the gifts only after paying the price. The gift must first be deposited in the Toshakhana. Imran Khan and his wife are accused of using their power to keep the gifts at low prices.

This case is different from other Toshakhana cases in the country. In this, Imran Khan was disqualified by the Election Commission of Pakistan. He was later convicted of concealing income from the sale of state gifts. Imran's disqualification was later rejected by the Islamabad High Court.

10 years imprisonment in a confidential document leak case

It is noteworthy that a day before, former Pakistan PM Imran Khan and former Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi were sentenced to 10 years in jail each for leaking confidential information. Both were found guilty of leaking confidential information by a special court constituted under the Official Secrets Act. Imran Khan (71 years old) and Shah Mehmood Qureshi (67 years old) are lodged in Rawalpindi's Adiala Jail. Imran Khan and Shah Mahmood Qureshi attended the court hearing virtually from jail itself.
