Buying Amul milk will now become expensive. Amul has announced a price hike across India. Now the prices of Amul milk have been increased by Rs 2 per liter. Amul Gold will cost Rs 30 per 500 ml in Gujarat's Ahmedabad and Saurashtra markets. On the other hand, Amul Taza will cost Rs 24 per 500 ml, and Amul Shakti will cost Rs 27 per 500 ml. These prices will be applicable from March 1.

Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation has increased the prices of milk even before the completion of one year. Earlier in July 2021, the price of milk was increased. The price hike will apply to all brands of Amul milk. These include T-Special, Sona, Taza, Shakti, besides cow and buffalo milk, etc. After about 7 months and 27 days, the prices have been increased. The company says that the increase in the cost of production is the reason for the increase in prices.

On this hike, Amul said that an increase of Rs 2 is only an increase of 4 percent, which is much less than the average food inflation. The company said that in the last two years, Amul has increased the prices of its fresh milk range by 4 percent per annum. The increase in the cost of energy, packaging, transport, and animal feed has led to an increase in the cost of milk production, increasing the overall cost of operation. Because of this, Amul has increased the milk procurement price of farmers from Rs 35 to Rs 40 per kg fat, which is 5 percent more than last year. The company says that out of every rupee paid on the purchase of Amul milk, about 80 paise is returned to the farmers.
