Andhra Pradesh: First flood alert at Prakasam barrage, Meteorological department issues alert

The first flood warning was issued at Prakasam Barrage in Andhra Pradesh's Vijayawada on Friday morning. A high alert has been issued in the low-lying areas of the Krishna river. Explain that the additional water at the rate of 4.07 lakh cusecs has been released from the barrage into the sea. Krishna District Collector P Ranjit Basha took stock of the flood situation and said that since morning the flood water level has risen from 3.97 lath cusecs to 4.07 lakh cusecs.

 

Heavy rain is expected in the Krishna district

Because of the possibility of heavy rains in Krishna district in the next two days, the district officials have been directed to remain on duty on Saturday and Sunday. The officials have been instructed to prepare flood relief material. All the people living on the banks of the river in Krishna, Guntur, Palnadu, Bapatla, and NTR districts have been advised to move to safer places. Apart from this, people have been advised not to cross flooded places, culverts, and bridges.

 

Where is it likely to rain?

While the rains have stopped in North and Central India, it is likely to continue in Maharashtra and the southern states. According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of rain in many parts of South India including Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, and Karnataka on Saturday.
