The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted raids in several states including Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, and Delhi on Tuesday. News agency ANI quoted its sources as saying that the NIA raided several locations in Delhi, Punjab, Rajasthan, Haryana, and UP on Tuesday morning to bust the gangster's hideouts.
To bust the growing nexus between terrorists, gangsters, and drug smugglers based in India and abroad, the NIA conducted raids in more than six districts of four states including Delhi. The NIA raids are being conducted in residential and other premises linked to gangsters.
Raid plan made after questioning several gangsters
The raids focused on a gang nexus involving Lawrence Bishnoi, Neeraj Bawana, Tillu Tajpuria, and Goldie Brar. It is already the target of the anti-terror agency. The raids were planned after the interrogation of several gangsters by the NIA.
Earlier NIA raided 52 places
In October, the NIA raided 52 places in four states of North India and including Delhi. A lawyer and a gangster from Haryana were arrested in this raid operation.
The lawyer was arrested from North East Delhi
The arrested lawyer was identified as Asif Khan, a resident of Gautam Vihar in North East Delhi's Usmanpur area. He was arrested after the agency sleuths recovered four arms and some pistols along with ammunition from his house during a search at his residence.
NIA had also arrested Raju Mota, a resident of Sonepat.
The NIA revealed during interrogation that Asif was in touch with jailed gangsters. NIA also arrested Rajesh alias Raju Mota, a resident of Basaudi, Sonipat (Haryana). According to the NIA, several criminal cases are registered against Mota.
Gangster's nexus works inside and outside the jail
The agency said the gangster's nexus operates inside and outside the jail and the gang members actively assist gangsters and criminals in carrying out various types of criminal and illegal activities. In September, the NIA conducted raids at 52 locations in Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Delhi as well as in the National Capital Region (NCR).
