Article 370: Security tightened in Jammu and Kashmir before 'Supreme' decision, ban on convoys of security forces in the valley

Security has been beefed up in Srinagar ahead of the Supreme Court's decision on petitions challenging the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir.

 

Let us tell you that given the Supreme Court's verdict on Monday on the petitions related to the removal of Articles 370 and 35A, adequate security arrangements have been made in the entire valley. Extensive arrangements have also been made in Jammu. Especially social media is being monitored. Meanwhile, the movement of convoys of security forces has been banned in the entire valley.

 

 

Besides, a ban has also been imposed on the convoys engaged in the security of VIPs. Some mischievous elements have been taken down in the valley so that no disturbance occurs. On behalf of IG Kashmir, a message has been sent to the army as well as officers of BSF, CRPF, ITBP, SSB, and other security forces and all the police chiefs saying that no convoy will pass on the Jammu-Srinagar Highway and other highways.

 

There will be dry days throughout the day. Along with this, convoys of VIPs and protected persons have been asked to completely avoid leaving. IG VK Birdi said that we are committed to maintaining peace in the valley under any circumstances. All kinds of precautions are being taken. We will ensure that peace and order are not disturbed in Kashmir. Meanwhile, two founding members of a news portal have been arrested for spreading rumors.

Police and administrative officials say that adequate security arrangements have been made to ensure peace. Birdi, who held security review meetings in 10 districts of the valley in two weeks, said that we are taking all precautions and will ensure that peace is not disturbed in Kashmir. He said that some elements have tried to instigate people by posting.

 

 

Action has already been taken against such elements, which will continue in the future. Authorities here have issued guidelines for social media users under Section 144 of the CrPC to prevent the spread of any content that is communally sensitive or promotes terrorism and separatism. The guidelines aim to provide clarity on the steps to be taken by citizens when using terrorism, separatism, threats, intimidation, or communally sensitive content on social media platforms.

 

We're working as modules to further the enemy's agenda

Kashmir's intelligence agency CIK identified a news portal called Daily News and Analysis during social media monitoring. Also, its two founders have been arrested. They have been identified as Manwan Awoora, a resident of Zahoor Ahmed Khan, and Abdul Rauf Peer, a resident of Awoora Kupwara. Both are accused of spreading fake news and rumors. Initial inquiries found it to be part of a module intended to spread rumors to further the enemy's agenda. A case has been registered against them under relevant sections of the law. Analysis and investigation of digital devices have been initiated.

 

Strict security arrangements have been made in Jammu. Security personnel will be deployed at all major places. Special arrangements have been made at sensitive places. Under no circumstances will it be allowed to spoil the atmosphere. There will be a close watch on social media.
