After the crushing defeat in Australia, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has now taken strict decisions. Now on foreign tours of more than 45 days, players will be allowed to keep their families with them only for two weeks. Playing domestic cricket has been made compulsory and personal staff has been banned on foreign tours. Apart from this, players will also not be able to shoot personal advertisements during the series. It will be mandatory to follow the 10-point policy. If this is not done then BCCI will take action. From now on, players will not be allowed to travel separately during the tour and they will not be allowed to leave early if the match ends early.
This policy has been implemented to promote discipline and unity in the national cricket team. After the series defeat against Australia and the whitewash at home against New Zealand, there were reports of factions being formed in the team and players not sitting together. In such a situation, the BCCI considered it necessary to implement this policy so that the players' performance and commitment could be improved.
Gautam wants to end star culture.
The BCCI has taken this step at the behest of head coach Gautam Gambhir, who has demanded the end of star culture. Gambhir demanded these restrictions in the review meeting after the team's recent poor performance. This has also been done because star cricketers stay away from Ranji.
Superstars traveled separately
Players will go to matches and practice with the team. A superstar player travelled separately on many tours including the South Africa tour last year. During the recent Australia tour, two big stars refused to travel with the teams.
These rules have to be followed.
Players' families will stay only for 2 weeks on the tour (more than 45 days).
Cricketers must play domestic cricket.
Players are also prohibited from doing personal advertisements during the series.
Players will not be allowed to travel separately during the tour.
If the tour or match ends early, they will not be allowed to leave early.
Players will come and go with the team to the match and practice sessions.
If players carry more than 150 kg of luggage, they will have to pay for the extra amount themselves.
Managers, cooks, assistants, and security personnel will be banned from the tour or series.
Will have to be present in BCCI programs.
Coordination will have to be done with the team management to send equipment to the Center of Excellence.
If rules are not followed, fees will be deducted, and playing IPL will also be difficult.
Players will be fined for not following this policy, which includes a deduction of their retainer fees from central contracts and a ban on participating in IPL.
Will have to take permission from Gambhir-Agarkar
It has been made mandatory for the players that they will have to get approval from Gambhir along with chief selector Agarkar for any exemption including the duration of stay of their family on the tour. It will also be mandatory for cricketers to be present in the board's programs. Even if the series ends early, the players will have to stay together. Managers, cooks, assistants, and security personnel will be banned from the tour or series unless explicitly allowed by BCCI.
Sitanshu Kotak appointed batting coach.
The BCCI on Thursday appointed former Saurashtra batsman Sitanshu Kotak as India's batting coach ahead of the limited-overs series against England and the Champions Trophy after the national team's poor performance in Australia. Assistant coach Abhishek Nair's performance on the Australia tour was not up to expectations. 52-year-old Kotak has been a batting coach at the National Cricket Academy for a long time.
