IPL 2025: BCCI's big decision amid India-Pakistan tension, IPL 2025 season postponed indefinitely

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has taken a big decision on Friday amid the ongoing tension between India and Pakistan. Given the tension, the BCCI has postponed the IPL 2025 season indefinitely. Earlier, IPL chairman Arun Dhumal had told on Thursday night that the 18th season of IPL will continue in the current situation, but now the board has decided to postpone it.

Earlier, the match played between Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings in Dharamsala was canceled. The match was stopped due to a fault in the floodlights and the spectators and players were taken out of the field. The BCCI had told that the match has been canceled due to technical fault in Dharamsala. However, there was doubt about IPL 2025 since Thursday.

16 matches were remaining

The BCCI official was quoted by news agency PTI as saying, "It does not look good that cricket is going on when the country is at war." The IPL 2025 season was in its final stages, and a total of 16 matches, including the final, were left to be played. The final match of the IPL 2025 season was to be played in Kolkata on 25 May, but given the increasing tension between India and Pakistan, it has been postponed indefinitely. Earlier, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) also decided to shift the Pakistan Super League (PSL) to the UAE.

Indian Army foiled Pakistan's attack.

Pakistan, enraged by India's Operation Sindoor launched in Pakistan against the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir on April 22, tried to target Indian military bases on Thursday night, which was completely foiled by the Indian forces. Through fighter planes, drones, rockets, and missiles, Pakistan tried to attack military bases and ordnance centers in Jammu, Pathankot, Ferozepur, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, and Jaisalmer between 8 and 10 pm. India shot down four Pakistani fighter planes in retaliation. These include two US-made F-16s and two Chinese-made JF-17s. The two pilots of the F-16 shot down in Jaisalmer and the other plane shot down in Akhnoor were taken into custody by the armed forces. Giving a befitting reply to Pakistan's audacity, India had retaliated simultaneously on seven cities of the neighbouring country, including Lahore, Islamabad, Peshawar, and Sialkot. After the Army and the Air Force, the Navy also joined in.
