According to local media reports, loudspeakers can be used only for Azaan and Iqamat. Defending the decision, Saudi Arabia's Minister of Islamic Affairs said that there were several complaints about loudspeakers making noise. Only after this, the decision has been taken.

 

Hardcore Wahhabi groups can be offended

Even though important decisions have been taken in Saudi Arabia, from allowing women to drive to now deciding the sound of loudspeakers, but this can also increase resentment among the hardline section. The Kingdom had taken a similar decision earlier in 2009, but it could not be implemented due to protests. However, in the order issued now, it has been said that if the loudspeakers make more noise than the prescribed limit, then a fine can also be imposed on the mosque administration. The Minister of Islamic Affairs says that this decision has been taken in the interest of the people.

 

Minister said - elderly and children were facing problems

Islamic Affairs Minister Abdul Latif al-Sheikh said there had been complaints from citizens that the loudspeakers were causing problems ranging from children to the elderly. In a video message, the minister said that those who want to worship God, do not need to wait for the azaan from the Imam.
