Following the first phase of voting in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, Prashant Kishore (PK), head of Jan Suraj, said that the record voter turnout this time is a sign of change. He claimed that over 60% of Bihar's population wants change and now sees Jan Suraj as a strong political alternative.
Speaking to the media in Gayaji, Prashant Kishore said, "For the first time since independence, Bihar has seen such a high voter turnout. This shows that people are voting for change. For the last 30 years, there was no strong alternative in Bihar politics, but the advent of Jan Suraj has given people a new path."
PK said that migrant workers have become the "X-factor" of this election. "Migrant workers who stayed in Bihar after Chhath voted themselves and also inspired their families to vote. This time, the role of migrant workers has been more important than that of women. These people are bringing the winds of change in Bihar."
He claimed that history will be written for Bihar on November 14th, as the people have enthusiastically participated in this festival of democracy. PK said, "More than two crore people have voted. This shows that the public has now moved beyond the politics of fear."
Launching a political attack, he said, "The compulsion to vote for Lalu Yadav out of fear of Nitish Kumar, or for Nitish Kumar out of fear of Lalu, has now ended. The public has now found a real alternative."
PK targeted both the NDA and the RJD-Congress alliance, saying, "Samrat Chaudhary claims that the party's face is clean, but there is still an atmosphere of insecurity in Bihar. Earlier, the public suffered; now the leaders and ministers are suffering." He also responded to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's statement that the RJD and Congress would pull each other's hair. PK said, "Whether they pull each other's hair or their heads is their business, but the people of Bihar showed yesterday that they have found a new alternative." He concluded, "Now, elections not only decide power, but also who will be in the opposition and who will take to the streets to raise public issues. The biggest success of Jan Suraj is that it has given Bihar an alternative."
