Today is truly a new year for me. I have smiled after one and a half years. I have hugged my children. It feels as if a stone like a mountain has been removed from my chest. I can breathe again. This is what Bilkis Bano has to say. The Supreme Court on Saturday canceled the order for early release of 11 people serving life imprisonment. Bilkis Bano made this comment while reacting to this decision. He said that justice is like this. Every woman along with me and my children has won. Thanks to the Supreme Court for the support. Let us tell you, during the Gujarat riots, the same accused had raped Bilkis Bane and killed seven members of her family.

Thanks to all the women for their solidarity

The Supreme Court on Monday said that since the trial has been transferred to Mumbai, Gujarat does not have the power to reduce the sentence. Bano said through her lawyer Shobha Gupta that when the accused were given early release on August 15, 2022, my patience ran out. I had lost my courage. After this, lakhs of women in the country stood with me. He filed a public interest litigation in the Supreme Court. 10,000 people wrote an open letter. I am grateful for everyone's solidarity. People infused strength not only in me but also in all the women of India. Many thanks to everyone.

Bano is living in anonymity

Witness in the case and Bano's uncle Abdul Razzaq Mansoori said that Bano never came to her native village Randhikpur after the violence. She remained in Devgarh Baria for one year. After this, she started living in different areas of the country and state. She was living a life of anonymity. Now the Supreme Court's decision has come. Very happy to know this. The culprits will now have to surrender in two weeks.
