The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched a scathing attack on the Congress and Rahul Gandhi after the Election Commission released the final voter list in Bihar following the Special Intensive Revision (SIR).
Senior BJP leader and IT cell chief Amit Malviya accused the Congress of not filing a single complaint or objection regarding the addition or deletion of names from the voter list. He described Rahul Gandhi's 'Voter Rights Yatra' as a threat to national security and described it as a false narrative of "vote theft."
Malviya posted on X, "The Election Commission completed the SIR process in Bihar and released the final voter list. It is noteworthy that the Congress did not file a single complaint or objection regarding the addition or deletion of names."
He described Rahul Gandhi's visit as an attempt to protect illegal immigrants and mislead the public.
BJP counterattacks after 'vote theft' claim
The BJP leader rejected Rahul Gandhi's allegation that the Election Commission colluded with the BJP to commit irregularities in the voter list.
Malviya called it a "strategy straight out of George Soros's book," saying it was a conspiracy to conceal Congress's defeat and undermine people's faith in the democratic process. The Election Commission has also completely rejected Rahul's allegations.
Meanwhile, Bihar Congress chief Rajesh Ram called the SIR process a fraud from the outset. He said, "This process was neither demanded by the public nor by the political parties. Yet, it was carried out with such carelessness and opacity. Its fairness is questionable. Our workers will investigate across the state to determine how many names were removed or added. This matter will not end here."
Questions over the deletion of 4.7 million voters
Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar thanked voters, political parties, and other stakeholders for the release of the final voter list. The final list contains a total of 7.42 crore voters, compared to 7.89 crore as of June 24. This means that approximately 4.7 million voters were removed from the list.
Senior Congress leader Manish Tewari questioned this and wrote on X, "Who are the 47 lakh voters removed from the final voter list of Bihar? The Election Commission should clarify how many of them have migrated to other states, how many are dead, and how many are fake voters. This level of transparency is necessary so that the Election Commission can regain its lost credibility."
