CM Eknath Shinde has given a big statement on the ongoing border dispute between Maharashtra-Karnataka. On Thursday, he said that his government will not let even an inch of Maharashtra's land go to anyone.
We are trying to provide justice to the Marathi people in the border areas, Shinde said. We will not let even an inch of land go anywhere. He further said it is the responsibility of our government to solve the problems of 40 villages. Earlier, former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray had condemned the statement given by Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on the border dispute. He had said that it seems Karnataka CM Bommai has been suddenly forced to claim 40 villages in Maharashtra.
Pawar had sought intervention from the Center
Earlier, Leader of the Opposition in Maharashtra Ajit Pawar had demanded the intervention of the Center in this matter. Along with this, while condemning Karnataka CM Bommai, he had said that Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis should give a befitting reply in this matter.
What is the whole matter?
In fact, on Wednesday evening, Bommai tweeted, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has given a 'provocative' statement on the Karnataka-Maharashtra border issue and his dream will never come true. Our government is committed to protecting the country's land, water, and borders. Fadnavis had said that no village in Maharashtra would go to Karnataka. He tweeted that the state government will fight vigorously in the Supreme Court to get Marathi-speaking villages including Belgaum-Karwar-Nipani.
Bommai had claimed
Earlier, Karnataka Chief Minister Bommai had said that the boundary line has become a political tool in Maharashtra, and any party to stay in power will raise the issue for political purposes. Bommai had said that my government is capable of protecting the borders of Karnataka and has also taken steps. Bommai claimed that some villages in Maharashtra's Sangli district have passed a resolution demanding a merger with Karnataka. These villages are facing a water crisis. However, the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra refuted these claims and said that no such village has sought a merger with Karnataka in the recent past.
Demonstration against CM Bommai
Protests have started in Maharashtra's Pune against Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai over the border dispute. Maratha Mahasangh demonstrated against CM Bommai in Pune on Friday. During this, the protesters painted the buses of Karnataka.
