British Prime Minister's visit to India: Boris Johnson spins a spinning wheel at Sabarmati Ashram, writes - Good luck to come here; meeting PM Modi tomorrow

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has reached India on a two-day visit today. After reaching Sabarmati Ashram, he garlanded Bapu's picture. After that, the yarn was spun by spinning the spinning wheel. In the visitor's book here, he wrote- "It is a great privilege to be in the ashram of this extraordinary man. To understand how he inspired to change the world for the better to improve upon such simple principles of truth and non-violence."

 

He is accompanied by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. Here he was gifted by Mahatma Gandhi's disciple Madeleine Slade aka Miraben's autobiography 'The Spirits Pilgrimage' from the Sabarmati Ashram. This book is one of the two books of Mahatma Gandhi, which were never published. Earlier on reaching Ahmedabad, he was given a grand welcome.

 

This is the first time that a British Prime Minister is visiting Gujarat. In Gujarat, the British PM will announce several important investment proposals for joint trade. Both India and Britain are showing a positive attitude towards the Free Trade Agreement. It is expected that this visit of Johnson will make significant progress in this direction. The UK is keen to take the annual turnover with India to 2.89 lakh crores.

 

Johnson's India tour will start from Ahmedabad

 

The British Prime Minister will attend several programs in Gujarat on Thursday. After this, he will leave for Delhi in the evening. Will have a summit meeting with Modi on April 22. Before the British PM visits India, there is a lot of discussion about the 'New Era Trade Deal' (Early Harvest Deal). This deal is being told apart from the free trade agreement.

 

This early harvest deal will cover not only goods and services and investments but also intellectual property rights, geographic indication (GI tag), and sustainable development. It is likely to be signed during Johnson's visit.

 

Agreed on investment agreements worth Rs 5300 crore

 

India has agreed to investment agreements in the UK worth Rs 5,300 crore. On the other hand, in 2023, the G-20 meeting will be chaired by India. Britain wants to participate in this meeting with an important role. This will also be discussed.

 

India economic superpower will enhance ties: Johnson

 

Ahead of his visit to India, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson tweeted on Sunday that India is an economic superpower and the world's largest democracy. In the current volatile global situation, India is an important strategic partner of the UK. He said that my visit will enhance the ties of employment opportunities, security, and economic development.

 

India will also take its side in Ukraine war

 

There will also be talks on the Ukraine war between Modi and Johnson. India will take its stand. Western countries want to see India standing with them in this war. While India maintains a neutral stand, India has raised its voice in favor of peace through meetings with leaders of many Western countries.

 

Experts predict that Indo-Pacific will also be the main issue in the Modi-Johnson meeting. Britain strongly opposes any kind of coercion in this area. On the other hand, India advocates for keeping this region open to all.

 

Looking for economic opportunities with India after Brexit

 

Britain has broken ties with the European Union (EU). Now from trade with India, Johnson is bringing hope of cooperation in the field of consumer goods to reduce inflation in his country. Both countries are also looking at creating opportunities for green technology and high-skilled jobs. Also, there are more than 53 thousand Indian students in the UK. Knowledge-sharing partnership with the UK is an important agenda of Johnson's visit.

 

There will also be a big initiative regarding cyber security

 

A large network of cyber security will be developed between the two countries during Johnson's visit. Both the countries will launch a joint cyber security program. Under this, India and Britain will jointly deal with cybercriminals and ransomware attacks. Apart from this, the first Strategic Tech Dialogue will also start. India is the fifth country, after Japan, South Korea, Australia, and Canada, with which Britain is going to enter into a comprehensive strategic agreement.
