Shraddha Kapoor is back with the sequel of the 2018 hit film 'Stree'. Amar Kaushik's directorial 'Stree 2' recently hit the theatres on August 14 and is doing well at the box office. In an interview, the director of the film Amar Kaushik told how he gave a box office hit without relying on big stars and emphasized the importance of content over star power.
In an interview with Connect Cine, the director said about filmmaking, "I don't know about other films, but we don't run after any star. We don't build our story around a star. Instead, we first create the story and then select the right people for it."
He further said, "I remember five years ago I was also feeling the same as the audience. Thinking 'Where is the story?' Everything revolved around the star and I didn't like it. The audience is smart. They know what you are trying to sell them. We need to make films that can connect with them."
Talking about the importance of the film's content, the director said, "Ultimately, we are serving the audience, and I want them to walk out of the theatre with entertainment. You cannot deny the value of a star, but everything should not revolve around them. You need to make a star with your team, and not just depend on one person."
Let us tell you that apart from Shraddha, 'Stree 2' stars like Rajkumar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee, and Aparshakti Khurana in lead roles. The film is a part of Dinesh Vijan's horror-comedy universe, which also includes films like Bhediya and Munjya.
