The unemployment rate in India reached the highest level of 8 percent in the last three months in November. This was stated in the report released on Thursday by the Center for Monitoring India (CMI). As per the report, the unemployment rate in urban India is much higher than that of rural India. While the unemployment rate in urban India was 8.96 percent, it was 7.55 percent in rural India. Earlier in October 2022, the urban unemployment rate was 7.21 percent while the rural unemployment rate was 8.04 percent.

Haryana is on top in terms of unemployment

Talking state-wise, Haryana is once again at the top in terms of the unemployment rate. Where this figure was recorded at 30.6 percent in November. After that, the highest unemployment rate was recorded in Rajasthan at 24.5 percent. The unemployment rate in Jammu and Kashmir was 23.9 percent. According to the CMIE report, it was 17.3 percent in Bihar and 14.5 percent in Tripura.

The performance of these states including Chhattisgarh was better

Chhattisgarh remained at the forefront in terms of the lowest unemployment rate. Where the unemployment rate was only 0.1 percent. The unemployment rate during November stood at 1.2 percent in Uttarakhand, 1.6 percent in Odisha, 1.8 percent in Karnataka, and 2.1 percent in Meghalaya. The unemployment rate in October was 7.77 percent. According to CMI data, the unemployment rate in September before that was 6.43 percent.

The unemployment rate continues to fluctuate every month in the year 2022

The Mumbai-based CMIE data is reportedly closely watched by economists and policymakers as the government does not release monthly data on the economy.
